A Change of Pace

Happy Monday Morning!  We spent Mother's Day weekend visiting L.A.  We did a lot of touristy things around town.  One thing you find out when you go away from home:  there is nothing like "Home Sweet Home."  We spent a great deal of our time on the freeways of L.A., truly the traffic capital of the world.  It took us 2 hours to travel 28 miles.  Back in the high desert where we live, we could've done that in about 20-25 minutes.  Then there's the parking issue:  paid parking everywhere we went.

On the bright side, we got to see and catch up with some good friends we hadn't seen in a while.  We also got to visit the beach for the first time since we left Hawaii.  Santa Monica beach was pretty but still pales by comparison to the beaches in Hawaii.  Nevertheless, it was nice to feel the ocean breeze once again.  And of course, we got to eat some great food:  my hubby got his wish with authentic and delicious Mexican meal and I got my filling of Korean food in K-town! :D

Well, it's very, very hot here back home.  It should hit triple digits by noon.  I think it's already somewhere in the 90s right now and it's not even 10 a.m. yet!  I think we'll have a very hot and long summer!  Oh well, thankfully, it's dry heat!

As a change of pace, I want to share a scrapbook layout (12"x12") I finished last night using the beautiful Vintage Garden paper collection from Pion Design.  I had pretty much finished the layout but didn't have a photo to include until I came back from our trip this weekend.  It's a photo of my husband and me on the beach in Santa Monica.  So without further ado, here it is:

The paper flowers are all handmade.  The lace doily was made with Heartfelt Creations Decorative Blossom Corner die.  I love how it came out and now I need to frame it!

Hope you're having a great start to the week!  See you back soon!

More to Share

Good morning!  A quick post to share two new cards before I head down the hill for an appointment.

Here they are.  Both cards were made with the beautiful Pion Design papers - newly released Vintage Garden collection.  Don't you love 'em!

The front cover with Tilda with Ugg boots stamp from the Australian collection from Magnolia:

And the inside panel:

And the second card is an anniversary card I made for me and my hubby's 10th wedding anniversary next month.  I love the fact that I could just use the elements from the design papers to make this card.

And a look at both panels on the inside:

And a close-up of the inside left panel:

And a close up of the inside right panel:  the stamp is from Lili of the Valley.

Well, that's it for today.  Have a blessed day!

Happy Belated May Day!

Hello and Happy Saturday!  Can't believe it's May already.  I'm back to share a whole bunch of cards I got to finish over the last week.

The first card here is a birthday card I made for my dad who will be celebrating his 80th birthday at the end of the month.  Bless his heart that he is healthy and strong; honestly, he doesn't look a day over 65! So grateful for him and I pray that the Lord blesses him with many, many more years for continued health and vitality!

Stamps and DP:  Heartfelt Creations - Sand and Sea Set from the Breezy Balmy Collection
Dies:  Marianne Craftables, - CR1241 Oval Die; Heartfelt Creations - Decorative Lattice Swirl  (anchor)
The second card is a shaker card made with mini Tilda with Corkscrews stamp; other stamps include the butterfly and the crown from Magnolia's Once Upon a Time collection.  The silver sentiment plate was from my stash.  Dies used here are Magnolia Doohickey - Corner Die and Marianne Craftables - Passe Oval Partout Oval (CR1241); paper flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Design paper is from Magnolia - Once Upon a Time Collection.  Don't know if you can see them but I added loose small white beads inside the transparent oval frame.

And a look at the inside sentiment:

And the third card was made with Joyful Tilda stamp from Magnolia's A Christmas Story collection.  The design paper is from Pion.  Dies used here are the banner die from LaLa Land and the Floral Oval from Spellbinders.  The cutouts were also made from Pion Design paper.

And a look at the right inside panel:

And the fourth card is a birthday card I made for a friend's daughter who just turned two.

And how the inside sentiment looked:

Stamps:  Dandelion Designs - Sakura Alphabet set
And lastly, the final card here was made with three die cuts made from Marianne Craftables - Card Carousel and two die cuts made with Heartfelt Creations - Decorative Lattice Swirl.  The former didn't come with any instructions as to how best to use it for card making; so I managed to Google it and found a few card samples made with this new die.  I elaborated on one card format I saw by adding the Decorative Lattice die cut on each side of the Card Carousel die cuts as seen in the second photo below.

Here's a look at the Carousel card folded and tied with ribbons:  The fastener die cuts were also from the Card Carousel set.

And a look at the opened card with mini Magnolia stamps:

Whew!  That was a lot to share here in one sitting.  Anyway, that's all I have for now.

Have a blessed weekend!

One More Happy Princess Tilda

A real quick post this late at night to share one more card I made using both regular and mini Happy Princess Tilda stamps.  I was waiting for the new Magnolia Doohickey Castle die to arrive (this afternoon) to finish this card.

So here it is:

And a look at the right inside panel:

Well, good night and see you back here soon!

Blessings,

Happy Monday Morning!

Hi, there!  It's Monday morning again here in the high desert.  It's getting so warm so fast that I think we're skipping spring altogether and heading right into summer.  It's been sunny and in the high 80s.  I'm again in my shorts and flip flops.  :D!  And last week, unwittingly, I got to see my first snake in the neighborhood.  In fact, I got to see my second snake only 5 minutes after the sighting of the first one.  Thankfully, they were not poisonous;  but for me, it doesn't matter.  I hate all snakes and in the words of my hubby, a good snake is a dead snake!

Well, onto a more pleasant topic.  I want to share three new cards I finished over this weekend:  another Magnolia Tilda as a Clown card,  a birthday card for our little Mandy, who will be turning 6 tomorrow, and a Heartfelt Creations tri-fold birthday card.

Here's a look at the three cards:

1)

An inside look with the sentiment:

2)  Mandy's birthday card using Pink Poison/The Greeting Farm stamp.  I have no idea what this stamp is called.

And a look at the inside sentiment:

3) Tri-fold card using many of the Heartfelt Creations elements:  Vintage Floret design paper, Decorative Lattice Swirl die set; and Vintage Floret and Heartfelt Expressions pre-cut stamps.

And a look at the opened card:

Have a great week!

More Princess Cards

Hope you've had a Happy Monday!  Well at least I did earlier this morning until I heard about the horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon.  How tragic and how sad!  What is this world coming to?  Or better yet, what is becoming of the U.S.?

I'm going to stop there and enough said on that subject.

Here's a new card to share.  I finished putting this card together using both regular and mini Tilda with Corkscrews stamps.  I'm liking this whole pairing of regular with the matching mini stamps.  And glad I have several sets that way!

Anyway, here's a look at the front cover of the card.  This one measures 6"x6".  A lot of bling; used  glitter, Star Dust Stickles and Viva Decor's Cream Pearl Pen.  The design paper is from Pion Designs.  Sentiment stamps are from Heartfelt Creations.  I used watercolor paper and Distress Inks to color the stamped images.

And a look at the inside the card.  The die cut was made with Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch Around the Page set and I used Weathered Wood and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks to ink around edges of the page. The crown and the little mouse (mice) stamps are also from Magnolia's Once Upon a Time Collection 2013.

Well that's what I have to share for today on the card front.  And praying for the people in Boston and for our nation for healing.

Blessings,

Once Upon a Happy Princess Tilda

2nd post for the day.  A real quick post to add another finished card with Happy Princess Tilda stamp.  And the beautiful flourish Flower Corner stamp.  The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations - Classic Message PreCut set.

And here's what's included on the inside:  mini Happy Princess Tilda stamp and sentiment from Disney Prince and Princess Wood-Mounted Stamp set.

I think this is the first Magnolia collection that got released which included both regular and mini size stamps, simultaneously.  Anyway, this was all I had to share for now.  See you back soon!

Blessings,
